What this tool does

This checker gives you a quick, honest answer to the big question: can you actually become a pilot? It looks at your age, eyesight, health and what you want to fly, then explains where you stand and what the next step is.

It is general guidance to get you started, not a medical or training decision.

When to use it

Use it when you are wondering whether flying is realistic for you, when you are worried that your eyesight, age or a health condition might rule you out, or before you book a first lesson and want to know what is involved.

How it works

You answer a few questions about your age, eyesight, general health and your goal. It then tells you whether you can fly, which medical certificate you are likely to need, how glasses and common conditions are treated, and the licence route that fits your aim. Nothing you enter is saved, and you do not need to give your name or email to use it. For anything to do with your health, the people to ask are an Aviation Medical Examiner and your flight school.
