What this tool does
This calculator gives you a realistic idea of what learning to fly will cost, based on the licence you want, how you plan to train and where. It breaks the total into the parts that make it up rather than quoting one scary number.
The figures are estimates to help you budget, not a quote from any school.
When to use it
Use it when you are deciding whether you can afford to train, comparing a LAPL against a full PPL, or weighing up training in the UK versus abroad.
How it works
You choose your licence, your training pace and your location. It then estimates the total and breaks it down into flight hours and instruction, exams and materials, the medical, club and landing fees, and the skills test, with notes on what tends to push the cost up. Nothing you enter is saved, and you do not need to give your name or email to use it. Schools price differently and most people need more than the minimum hours, so treat this as a budget guide and get quotes from approved providers.
